The first of a series of four books, Pure Mathematics for Cape Volume 1 is an ideal textbook for students of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) in Pure Maths, both for use in the classroom and for self-study. Volume 1 covers the complete syllabus for Unit 1, while Volume 2 covers the complete syllabus for Unit 2. Some Key Features Each chapter takes a topic of the syllabus and explores it by means of investigations, explanations, worked examples and exercises on each subtopic. The approach and layout are user-friendly. Highlighting of definitions, rules to be learnt, and useful hints. Worked examples are taken step by step with explanations of each step. Each chapter concludes with an exercise of past CAPE examination questions, and a summary of the main ideas covered in the chapter. Other features include lists of definitions, symbols and abbreviations, a list of those formulae provided by CXC for the examinations (other formulae are summarized in the chapter summaries), a comprehensive index, and answers to all the exercises. The second volume, Pure Mathematics for CAPE: Volume 2, will be published in late 2007, and this will be followed by Applied Mathematics for CAPE and Statistical Analysis for CAPE in 2008.
